Cloud Counsel takes the security and confidentiality of your legal information seriously. Here's how your data is protected.
Data Security
- All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- Data is stored in Google Cloud infrastructure with industry-standard security controls.
- Access to your data is controlled by authentication and role-based authorization rules.
- Payment card information is handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor and is never stored in Cloud Counsel.
Who Can Access My Information?
Access to your matter information is strictly controlled:
- Firm administrators, attorneys, and staff — can access all matter information as needed to provide legal services.
- You (the client or agent) — can access your own matters and account information.
- Co-counsel — can access only the matters they are authorized to work on.
- Contributors — can only see information explicitly shared with them (targeted questions, their own timeline events, and shared documents).
- The public — can only see published help articles and public website content. No case information is publicly accessible.
Your Responsibilities
- Keep your sign-in credentials secure and do not share them.
- Use a strong password and change it periodically.
- Sign out when using a shared or public computer.
- Report any suspicious activity to J. Madison PLC immediately.
